The origins of stage magic are rooted in the 1840s, starting as a form of entertainment found at fairs and soon after becoming a big theater draw. Modern stage magic tricks can be broken down into several categories including vanishing, transformation, restoration, escapism, and levitation. The imagery depicted in this charm is inspired by a 1904 advertisement for magician Harry Kellar's performance of his levitation trick.
